CO2 EXTRACTION PLANTS
When installing or upgrading your CO2 production business, choose a modular TPI CO2 extraction plant featuring simple and reliable regenerable solvent technologies used worldwide to effectively produce food grade – ISBT compliant carbon dioxide (CO2) or simply to remove this by-product where undesired.
From boiler or engines flue gases, power plants, methane or biogas, steam reforming or hydrocarbon streams where CO2 volume percentage is between 5% and 70%, TPI is able to design a customized solution or offer a standard unit to meet and exceed your requirements.
Several TPI extraction units from mixture containing CO2 are installed today in different countries all over the world where low cost CO2 recovery is needed to produce saleable-beverage quality CO2.
Where removal of CO2 is a major concern to reduce environmental impact of fossil fuels, TPI has proved already its technology building and successfully starting three extraction unit from coal fired power plants, extending TPI reputation beyond the industrial gas world.
TPI’s technology is based on traditional amine based solvents (MEA, DEA or MDEA enhanced with special additives or) as well as hot carbonate processes and other licensed solvents, coupled with state-of-the-art proprietary design with reduced regeneration steam consumption (down to 2 kg steam /ton CO2 produced, depending on CO2 content of raw gas), reduced solvent degradation (specific consumption down to 1,5 kg solvent /ton CO2 produced depending on O2 content of raw gas) and energy efficient design (specific consumption down to 0,22 kW/ton depending on plant size and gas quality).
TPI’s plants are based on modular designed skid units, built entirely in stainless steel to guarantee the longest life span to our customers. Units are completely PLC automated reducing at minimum operators interventions.
On request TPI designs and builds customer designed units following the most stringent requirements and specifications dictated by the major engineering and EPC companies and by international authorities.
Beside standard plant sizes are offered starting from small units specially suited for self-consumers (soft-drinks producers) with capacities starting from 100 kg/h up to major installation for gas distributors (4000 kg/h and over on request).
Units are essentially composed by an absorber-stripper amine loop equipped with steam heated regenerator, pumps, coolers and accessories.
Vent streams contains less than 1%v/v residual CO2, recovery efficiencies up to 95% are commonly designed.
High surface regenerators guarantees low valued low pressure steam to be used for regeneration (down to 3 bar).
Thanks to the modular concept TPI plants can adapt to any specific requirement commonly encountered in CO2 extraction:
- Caustic conditioning of raw gas to remove SO2 or NOX
- Gas cooling and boostering to 0,1 barg and above(for long pipelines or special requirements)
- Particulate removal
- Solvent filtration units
- Solvent carbon bed regenerators and reclaimers
- Chemical dosing units
- CO2 wet scrubbing - purifiers columns
- Top washing section to reduce solvent and water consumption
- Special instrumentation, automatic analytical units, special controls on request.
