CO2 RECOVERY PLANTS
A feed gas from fermentation or other source is conveyed to the unit
for recovery. The CO2 gas proceeds to the low pressure purification
unit consisting of foam trap,water washer and hydraulic valve (washer
system). In the water washer the CO2 gas is washed from alcohols and
other impurities. The efficiency of the washer assures low water consumption
and negligible pressure drop. The droplets of liquid are removed in
the demister before the suction of the compressor. On the suction
of the compressor a storage gas balloon is provided to damp the flow
fluctuations and to reduce the start/stop frequency of the compressor.

| The CO2 is then compressed in a non
lubricated two stages process compressor and passed through
the automatic molecular sieve dryer to completely remove
the moisture. Then it goes into the activated carbon automatic
purifier and to the fine filter to remove smelling impurities
and remaining powders. |
|
The purified gas is sent to the CO2
liquefier;traces of non condensable gases still contained
in the CO2 gas remains gaseous when the CO2 gets liquid
in the liquefier.
Air and these non condensable gases are used for regeneration
of dryer; the pure liquid CO2 flows to the insulated storage
tank. |
|
From the tank the carbon dioxide can
be taken off to the evaporator and to the utilization
line.
Depending on product requirement, the CO2 can be used
for the following services:
as vaporized CO2 for beverage, carbonation and
other use;
as liquid for filling CO2 cylinders by means of
a pump;
for production of dry ice blocks and pellets. |
